Pace of innovation that provides video services in mobile home

    For Digital Future | September 15, 2008

Pace plc (LSE: PIC), leading developer of digital television technologies, has introduced its latest innovation in wireless technology at the IBC-Pace Connection Suite, an important step to enable operators to launch wireless video services viable in the Home for subscribers.

Pace Connection Suite (PCS) faces a key problem facing those operators to offer mobile video content to maintain service quality and content in real time, so that it is an attractive service to subscribers.

PCS is an innovative software solution, created by Pace, which monitors and adapts to wireless networks at home. PCS uses a set of rules to reconfigure and modify content on a network, and then intelligently manage the available bandwidth to ensure good service quality for end consumers.

The demand from operators and consumers to the possibilities in the network in the home increases by the day. The operators are evaluating the best options trading to allow this increase. The companies therefore are betting on wireless technology for delivery of content over a home network, because it seems that the future is a WiFi network in each house with all devices connected to it online.

The technology to send and receive content wirelessly in the home has become increasingly popular, but the problem has always been the delivery of video in real time so robust, without interference in the final image.

Pace Connection Suite solves this problem by wisely managing the network requirements with the use of transcoding and transrating to ensure that the final image appears without errors.

Pace has demonstrated this technology at the IBC using an advanced media server set-top box connected to two clients of video and a PC using advanced WiFi and WiMAX technology. The innovative technology of ViXS Systems Inc., the leading developer of video processing solutions, will be used to implement the measures identified by Pace Connection Suite. The demonstration affects the reduction of available bandwidth affects the flow of data, and how the software Pace responded to the fight against this negative effect.

The demonstration uses advanced technology to conceal errors to improve the quality of visualization, discarding errors masked packages damaged or a decline in information packets.
