The fair SIMO 2008 suspended
For Digital Future | October 14, 2008
After a few years of decline Fair SIMO not be held this year. IFEMA has agreed to the postponement of the convening of the 48th edition of SIMO, the International Fair of Information, Communications and Multimedia, scheduled from 11 to Nov. 16, 2008, at the Feria de Madrid.
Major companies have decided not to participate in this event, including Telefonica, Vodafone, Orange, Microsoft, Toshiba, Lenovo, Fujitsu and Siemenes. The reasons are varied and not reported. The reality is that the fairs to drown forcing exhibitors to pay large sums of money for each booth. On the other hand, in the world of new technology developments are reported at a speed of vertigo by the network and the need to pay so much money for a fair attendance is not worth it. An international outreach of a new product can be free to leave a mark and reach millions of people, instead of a showroom is to reach 300,000 people at a cost of a few hundred thousand.
If next year they want to do the show again SIMO, not just the Feria de Madrid will have to improve marketing, you must also reduce their income. This year we have the excuse of the crisis (that is not the main reason), next year we will see.
PS: If any technology company depends largely on the business that can generate a result of their presence at a trade show, is that you have a major problem in communication.
