Reader e-Books of Plastic Logic
For Digital Future | September 12, 2008
Plastic Logic introduced at the convention DEMO its digital reader e-books, newspapers and magazines, which aims to rival the Kindler Amazon.
The reader who does not yet have a name, will use technology E-Ink. The size of it is the 2 / 3 of a 4-Din, and weighs less than half a kilogram. The main advantage of this device is that it is portable and convenient, making it easier to use the time to read. The back is made of plastic, making it more resilient to shocks and drops, and the lead has a touch screen, able to move from page to navigate through the menu, or enter information with a virtual keyboard.
The disadvantage with respect to Kindler, is that it does not have wi-fi although it is expected that future versions of this reader did have. For its connectivity uses a microUSB port and Bluetooth. The battery lasts about a week, as it does not emit light. The only time they spent battery power is loading a new page, or use the menu.
The formats are accepted Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Adobe PDFs, as well as newspapers, magazines and electronic books.
Prices are not confirmed, but it will be next to the price of Kindler (359 U $ S). Prices which are already easy to think that 10 years in newspapers and magazines must have an electronic subscription if they do not want to die.
