What is the Ambilight in LCD screens?
For Digital Future | July 11, 2008
The screens with Ambilight system went on sale last year of the hands of Philips. The Ambilight is essentially a backlighting system at the rear of the LCD televisions that allows the colors emitted by LEDs (before fluorescent) are in sync with the image displayed by creating an atmosphere of space surround-vision giving the impression of that the screen is larger than those that actually is.
This system will only be distributed with LCD screens because they have a very high brightness, thus preventing an external light to cause loss in lively colors and the intensity of the image. If equipped with a plasma display with Ambilight, because of the low brightness of the screen, the external light of Ambilight interfere with the picture quality of the screen.
