Some 45,000 web pages, and between them Facebook.com Ticketmaster.com, using the new method of Captcha, called ReCaptcha. A person is asked to resolve one of these puzzles to register with the portal. Crosswords have a filter that rejects the automated programs for people who send spam or junk mail or those who try to commit fraud. ReCatcha is the best alternative to the traditional Captcha that has been shown, and appears to be increasingly, ineffective before the attacks of spam.
Without that you warn Internet users, scientists are worth millions of us around the world to convert books and articles prior to the era of digital documents on the Internet thanks to ReCaptcha. The method, which has been using since a year ago, allows processing 160 books a day with almost perfect fidelity, according to a study by Carnegie Mellon University, who created the program and is supplied free.
These ancient documents are digitized using the scanning of documents and OCR for optical character recognition. ReCaptcha uses the words blurry or distorted that the OCR program is not recognized and presented on web sites that use reCaptcha for people to the decode.
A person takes them an average of 10 seconds to decode the words, saving 150,000 hours of manual transcription. A newspaper is decrypted some four million words in more than a 99% hit, according to the study, published in the journal Science Express. In the first year, the decoding method provided 440 million words, or about 17,600 books.
The program prompts the user to decode words. One is the word that in fact there to be decrypted, and another one that is already known. If the user decrypts both, the program assumes that both are correct. Are given the same word to many users to improve the odds of hitting.
